About Your Guide
Freddy Olander is an active professional big wave surfer based in Nazaré, Portugal, with over 20 years of experience in the ocean. He has surfed the biggest waves in the world and built the Big Wave Center in Nazaré harbour himself. He is not a retired athlete or a hired guide. He is still actively surfing, still competing, and still operating at the highest level of the sport.
When you join this experience, you are getting direct access to someone who lives and breathes big wave surfing every day. That is what makes the Big Wave Experience in Nazaré different from every other tour, boat ride or guided activity in the area.
Freddy is also an international keynote speaker, delivering talks on resilience, leadership and performance for companies and conferences worldwide, in English and German.

The Big Wave Q&A and Harbour Tour is the ideal starting point for anyone visiting Nazaré who wants to understand the world of professional big wave surfing. At €139 per person it is the most accessible experience offered by Big Wave Experience. It requires no surfing ability, no physical fitness level, and no time in the water. For a more complete experience including jet ski access and on-water action, the Guided Jet Ski Tour at €290 or the Big Wave Surfer Experience at €590 are recommended.
